Whitstable has always been a friendly place as this statue, (on the forecourt of  the new swimming pool at Tower Parade), will testify.  A frogman and a deep sea diver have walked 50 yards from the beach in full regalia just to help this shortsighted young lady read a sign post.

Before anyone jumps on me, I would add that I quite like it. It celebrates the town's contribution to the development of  diving equipment and helps to hide the swimming pool.... a metal and brick monstrosity that could pass as scenery for Cell Block H. Perhaps we should invest in a whole host of friendly divers so that we hide it completely.
